Link to an External Site
- To add a link to an external webpage, first type the name of the link as you want it to appear on your page. Next, highlight the text and click on the “Link” button on the Toolbar. This will open the “Link” menu screen.
- Under the “Link Type” menu, select “URL.” Under the “Protocol” menu, select the appropriate address prefix. If you do not know which to choose, choose “http://*” as your protocol. In the “URL” text field next to the “Protocol” menu, type the address of the webpage to which you’d like to link.
- Click “OK.”
Link to a Page on your Site
- To add a link to an existing page on your website, highlight the text you like to act as the link and click the “Link” button on the Toolbar.
- Under the “Link Type” menu, select URL. Under the “Protocol” menu, select “<other>.”
- In the URL field, specify the web address of the page in your website for which you’re creating a link. You only need to use the URL that comes after the first back slash.
- Click “OK.”
Link to a File
- To link to a File in the Text Editor, leave the Link Type box on URL and click Browse Server. This will open the CKFinder window, where you'll be able to upload and select from the files on your computer or server.
- The files you upload through the Text Editor will appear in this window once they are selected from your computer or server. Please note that while any type of file may be uploaded to the Files Folder (left), the Images and Flash Folders are restricted in what file types you can upload into these folders (images and Flash file, respectively.)
- To upload a file, click Upload in the upper left area of this window and select the target file from the browser window that appears. Once the file has been selected and the upload button has been clicked, the file will appear highlighted in blue. Double click the target file to add it to the URL field in the previous Links Menu.
- Click "OK" in the Links menu to create a link to this file.
Link to an Email
- To add a link to an email address, type and highlight the target text in the text field. Click the “Link” button in the Toolbar to access the links’ menu screen.
- In the “Link Type” menu, select the ‘Email” option. A screen will prompt you to enter the details of the target email.
- Once you have filled out the details of the target email address, click "OK."
