Formatting Images
Generally speaking, your webpage is about a thousand pixels in width. Keep this in mind when formatting your image, as the sizing values are measured in pixels.
Resize an image
To begin, the height/width ratio are fixed, so a changing the value in one field changes the other value proportionally. This helps to resize your image without having to guess at the ratio or distort it unnecessarily. The small lock icon to the right of these fields will lock and unlock the H/W ratio when clicked. The circled arrow icon next to the lock icon restores the image’s original properties when clicked.
Border
The Border field will introduce a black border around your image. The size of this border is determined by the number you place in this field, with larger values meaning a thicker border.
Image Padding
Image Padding is a way to space your images from the text of your page. These fields will determine the amount of space horizontally or vertically around the image. The greater the number value in either of these fields will result in larger spaces along those axes.
- Horizontal Space: The HSpace field will create space on both sides of an image.
- Vertical Space: The VSpace field will create space above and below an image.
Aligning an Image
The Align menu presents you with different options of aligning your image on your page. If you select “<not set>,” the image will precede the text along the same line as the first line of text. Selecting a right or left alignment for you image will move the image to the right or left side of your page and into the text field so the text will appear alongside the side of the image and continuing beneath it.
